Patna, Aug 28: Vigilance Investigation Bureau arrested Rosera Deputy Collector land reforms Kanchan Kumari Jha and her domestic help, Sumit Kumar, while allegedly accepting a Rs 2 lakh bribe.
The Bureau also recovered Rs 13 lakh in cash during a search of her Govt residence.
Kanchan had allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh and a washing machine from a person in exchange for settling a land dispute case.
The action followed a complaint by Manoj Kumar of Madhavpur village under Vibhutipur police station in Samastipur.
After preliminary verification found the allegations prima facie true, a case was registered at Vigilance Police Station on Aug 25.
A trap team was subsequently formed under Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Both accused were taken into custody following the trap operation
After interrogation, the accused will be produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur.
Further investigation is underway.
