SRINAGAR, Aug 28: The High Court has quashed the Dental Council of India’s directions seeking discharge of 10 BDS students admitted to the Institute of Dental Sciences, Sehora, Jammu, in the 2016-17 academic session for not having qualified NEET-2016, holding that the students had been admitted against vacant State Quota seats that were covered by the transitional exemption from NEET.
Justice Sanjay Parihar allowed two connected writ petitions and directed the authorities to recognise the admissions of the 10 students as valid for all academic purposes.
The court also directed the University of Jammu to process their cases for issuance of BDS degrees, certificates and other consequential academic documents, subject to the students having fulfilled the prescribed requirements relating to academics, attendance, internship, examinations and other conditions for award of the BDS degree.
