CM J&K chairs meeting over upgrading 714 High Schools into K-12 composite Schools

SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired review meeting of the School Education Department today at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.

The meeting focused on improving the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) at the higher secondary level and reviewed the phased plan to upgrade 714 High Schools into K-12 composite schools, including requirements for teaching and non-teaching staff, infrastructure, laboratories and other essential facilities.

The upgradation will ensure continuity in school education, expand access to Classes XI and XII, and help reduce dropouts at the critical transition after Class 10, particularly in underserved areas.

Advisor to CM Nasir Sogami, Education minister Sakina Itoo , Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, ACS to CM  Dheeraj Gupta, ACS Finance Shailendra Kumar , ACS PWD  Anil Kumar Singh and  Comm/Secy School Education Ram Niwas Sharma attended the meeting.
