JAMMU, July 17:The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Anti-Corruption Branch, Jammu, has arrested Shri Liaqat Javed Sheikh Gojar, Assistant Engineer, PWD Jammu & Kashmir posted in implementation of PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana), Jammu & Kashmir, in a bribery case.
The case was registered on the basis of a complaint, wherein it was alleged that the complainant's house had been damaged during the execution of the PMGSY road project connecting Thathri to Kathawa (District Doda) and that he was entitled to compensation of approximately ₹10 lakhs. It was further alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of ₹50,000/- for processing and releasing the compensation amount, which was subsequently negotiated and settled to ₹30,000/-.
The allegations were verified by CBI and, accordingly, CBI registered the case and laid a trap on 16.07.2026 in the presence of independent witnesses. During the trap proceedings, the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹30,000/- from the complainant.
Investigation in the case is continuing.
