Srinagar, July 14: The Food and Drugs Administration , J&K, today ordered the immediate closure of two cheese manufacturing units in Pulwama after detecting serious food safety and hygiene violations.
It has also intensified inspections across tourist destinations and collected 44 food samples for laboratory testing.
It said that, acting on a specific complaint, Food Safety Officers inspected two paneer manufacturing units at Talangam in Pulwama and found multiple violations of the sanitary and hygienic requirements prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
According to the FDA, the violations included the use of non-food-grade plastic material, inadequate pest control measures, and the absence of proper temperature-controlled storage facilities for perishable milk products
The authorities collected two paneer samples from the units and sent them to an NABL-accredited food laboratory for analysis of the prescribed quality and safety parameters.
Is only publicising such like episodes by FDA serve the purpose or as a part of their dutys for which their appointments has been made, needs daily & regular such like actions & thereafter tough punishments for those, who are playing with the lives of innocent public?
