DC Reasi reviews progress on removal of forest encroachments, demarcation of forest boundaries

REASI, JULY 07: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) constituted to execute eviction of encroachments from forest land in the district.

The meeting reviewed issues related to forest clearances required for developmental works being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress achieved in the eviction of encroachments from forest land in Reasi and Mahore Forest Divisions. He also assessed the status of demarcation of forest boundaries and the installation of boundary pillars, particularly in areas prone to disputes or ambiguity in revenue and forest records.

Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to strengthen coordination and conduct joint verification of forest boundaries to ensure accurate demarcation. He stressed the need to expedite the installation of boundary pillars and remove all identified encroachments in a time-bound manner.

Deputy Commissioner instructed the officers to maintain close coordination between the Forest and Revenue Departments, resolve pending issues promptly and submit regular progress reports to ensure that the prescribed targets are achieved within the stipulated time frame.

The meeting was attended by ACR Reasi Nitin Verma, DFO Reasi, DFO Mahore, XENs PMGSY, Tehsildar Reasi and other concerned officers.
