RAMBAN, JUNE 27: In a major step towards ensuring seamless connectivity and foolproof arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today conducted an extensive inspection of the Yatra facilities and key National Highway-44 infrastructure projects, including tunnels and viaducts.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, Arun Gupta; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Banihal, Mohammad Naseeb Bajran; Project Director NHAI Shubham Yadav and officers of other concerned departments.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner visited the 3.5-kilometre-long Digdol–Panthyal Tunnel, which is expected to open for traffic movement shortly.
He also reviewed the progress of other strategically important tunnel and viaduct projects along National Highway-44 and inspected the newly opened viaduct connecting Makerkote with Ramsoo.
He observed that these infrastructure projects will significantly improve road connectivity, reduce travel time, and enhance the safety and convenience of commuters, particularly during the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the NHAI and executing agencies to expedite the remaining works and ensure their completion within the stipulated time frame while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
He stressed the importance of keeping the National Highway fully traffic-worthy and ensuring smooth and uninterrupted movement of pilgrims and other commuters throughout the Yatra period.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Yatra arrangements at Lamber and reviewed facilities being established for pilgrims, including sanitation, drinking water, medical assistance, traffic management, security, and other essential amenities.
He instructed the concerned officers to ensure that all arrangements are completed and that every department remains fully prepared to provide prompt and efficient services.
Interacting with officers and officials deployed on duty, the Deputy Commissioner directed them to work in close coordination to provide a safe, comfortable, and hassle-free experience to the pilgrims.
He directed all departments to remain on high alert and ensure swift response to any emergent situation for the successful and peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 through Ramban district.
The Deputy Commissioner, along with the Senior Superintendent of Police and officers of other security agencies, also reviewed the security arrangements. They assessed surveillance measures, traffic regulation, emergency response mechanisms, and inter-agency coordination.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized close coordination among all stakeholder departments to maintain a robust security grid and ensure the safe, smooth, and incident-free passage of pilgrims through the district.
