DC Ramban  highlights importance of entrepreneurship as a catalyst for economic growth

 RAMBAN, JUNE 25: In a significant step towards promoting entrepreneurship and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) under the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP).

The initiative is aimed at transforming aspiring youth into job creators by promoting self-employment ventures and strengthening the district’s rural economy.

The meeting reviewed applications received under JKREGP, a flagship self-employment scheme being implemented by the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) to provide financial and technical assistance for establishing viable enterprises in rural areas.

The meeting was attended by General Manager DIC Ramban Ravinder Anand, District Officer KVIB Ramban and Convener DLTFC Sudhir Singh, Lead District Manager (LDM), Cluster Head J&K Bank, Branch Manager J&K Bank, Superintendent ITI Ramban and other concerned officers.

After a detailed scrutiny and evaluation of proposals, the committee approved financial assistance amounting to ₹1.85 crore in favour of 25 applicants under JKREGP. A total of 51 applications were received for consideration.

The approved projects are expected to generate self-employment opportunities and contribute to local economic development across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship as a catalyst for economic growth and employment generation. He observed that JKREGP offers a valuable platform for unemployed youth to translate innovative ideas into successful business ventures while becoming self-reliant.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the implementing agencies and banking institutions to ensure prompt processing and timely disbursement of sanctioned loans so that beneficiaries can establish their enterprises without unnecessary delay.

He stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of the scheme and maximize its impact on the ground
