TMC's 60 Rebel MLAs remove Mamata Banerjee from Chairperson Position

Kolkata, June 22: A major political actions has rocked West Bengal as in a meeting of the Trinamool Congress's rebel faction held in Bengal's New Town on Monday (June 22), several key decisions were taken, delivering a severe blow to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.

In a major move, the rebel group has removed Mamata Banerjee from her position as TMC Chairperson. In her place, MLA Arup Roy from Howrah Central has been declared the new national president.

At the same time, leaders of the TMC faction led by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Ritabrata Banerjee and others have suspended Abhishek Banerjee from his role as party general secretary.

This political development comes at a time when, just recently, 20 TMC Lok Sabha MPs had adopted a rebellious stance and merged themselves into the NCPI.
