Anantnag, June 22: In a significant boost to the security architecture for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure, has spearheaded the establishment of strategically positioned high-rise Machan Morchas along the Pahalgam Yatra axis, further strengthening surveillance and security arrangements for one of the country's largest religious pilgrimages.
The initiative forms part of Anantnag Police's comprehensive and multi-layered security strategy designed to ensure the safe, smooth and incident-free conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The elevated observation posts have been set up at carefully identified vulnerable and strategically important locations along the Yatra route, enabling security personnel to maintain continuous surveillance over vast stretches of terrain and sensitive areas.
It said the Machan Morchas provide a commanding field of vision, allowing deployed personnel to monitor pilgrim movement, detect suspicious activities at an early stage and respond swiftly to any emerging situation.
The elevated structures significantly enhance situational awareness and operational preparedness, particularly in difficult and mountainous terrain where ground visibility can often be limited.
Under the leadership of SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure, Anantnag Police has been aggressively strengthening the security grid ahead of the pilgrimage through a series of preventive and proactive measures.
These include intensified area domination exercises, route sanitization drives, deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs), anti-sabotage checks, enhanced surveillance mechanisms and close coordination with various security and intelligence agencies.
The newly established observation posts are expected to play a pivotal role in maintaining round-the-clock vigilance along the pilgrimage corridor. T
rained police personnel deployed at these elevated locations remain on constant alert and are equipped to coordinate instantly with ground units and control rooms, ensuring rapid response capability in case of any contingency.
SSP Nagpure has been personally monitoring security preparedness across the district and conducting regular reviews of arrangements being put in place for the Yatra.
Senior officers have been directed to maintain maximum alertness and ensure that every aspect of security planning is executed meticulously.
