IGP Kashmir directs strict implementation of SOPs for NEET UG re-exam, foolproof security for Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar, June 18: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi chaired a review meeting to assess preparedness and finalize security arrangements for the smooth, fair, and transparent conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.

The meeting also reviewed the security, traffic, and public facilitation measures being put in place for the forthcoming SANJY-2026.

The meeting was attended by the IGP Traffic, all Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, DIG Traffic, SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, all District SSPs of Kashmir Zone, and other senior officers.

During the meeting, IGP Kashmir emphasized strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and directed all field officers to ensure robust security measures at examination centres.

He directed the officers to ensure adequate police deployment at all examination centres, with special focus on access control, crowd management, and maintenance of law and order.

Strict frisking and identity verification of candidates shall be carried out at entry points in coordination with examination authorities. Officers were further directed to ensure the secure transportation, escort, and handling of confidential examination material and maintain close coordination with the civil administration and concerned agencies.

Reviewing traffic arrangements, IGP Kashmir instructed the officers to facilitate the smooth movement of candidates and prevent congestion around examination centres.

IGP Kashmir called upon all officers to ensure professional conduct, public-friendly policing, and seamless coordination among all stakeholders so that the examination is conducted in a secure, peaceful, and transparent manner.
