Priya, Rajesh lays foundation of 4 Sulabh toilet complexes in Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 24: Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information Priya Sethi today laid foundation stone of 4 Sulabh toilet complexes, here.MLA, Jammu East Rajesh Gupta and senior leader Yudhvir Sethi were also present on the occasion.

The four public toilets would be constructed at a cost of Rs 41.0 lacs and the funding would be provided by the Minister from her CDF. The four complexes would come up at Panjtirthi, Deewana Mandir, Rani Park and Jammu Haat.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the complexes have been constructed as part of the national Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said the government wants to discourage open defecation and arrangements are being made to promote hygienic toilets in the area.

“Our Prime Minister Modi Ji has launched Swachh Bharat mission and more and more number of people are joining the mission to clean surroundings all across the nation,” she added.

She said the coalition government has been working on the agenda of development and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed along with Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh has initiated mega development projects in all the three regions of the state.

“We are fortunate that for overall development of the state the union government has sanctioned liberal funds and the recent PM special package of 80,000 crores would definitely help the government in taking forward the development revolution launched in the state,” she said.

Underscoring on preserving and cleaning the heritage complexes of the state, Priya said that the heritage week is being celebrated all over the state and series of events are being organised in Jammu, Srinagar, Leh and at district levels. She said special heritage exhibition is underway at Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex and general public especially children should visit to experience the old heritage of the area.

She said the government in a span of 8 months has ensured that long pending projects in the city of temples get started and prestigious projects of Jammu Ropeway, multi tier parking, Mubarak Mandi complex, artificial lake and other such projects have been initiated in record time.

The MLA expressed his gratitude to the Minister for sanctioning four toilet complexes and said that efforts have been initiated to make the constituency a model constituency. He said that already over 10 crores have been spent on different development projects in the constituency and with active support of the government problems of the area including parking, traffic congestion and other such public issues would be addressed in a time bound manner.

While congratulating the people on foundation laying of the Sulabh complexes, Yudhvir Sethi said that people of the old city were facing problems due to lack of public toilets and very soon the Sulabh International would construct modern complexes at four locations in the city. He said the coalition partners have ensured that major urban infrastructure projects are launched in the capital city and modern urban facilities are provided to the city residents.

He said the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Swachh Bharat would soon become reality as all across the nation people have joined hands to make the mission a grand success. Sulabh International is doing a commendable job in ensuring that hygienic toilet complexes are made available to the public, he added.

“People are appreciating the development initiatives of the government and everybody has supported the mission of transparent and corruption free administration in the state,” he added.
