INDORE, May 27: An Assistant Professor was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in the name of securing the posting of a female Assistant Professor, a Lokayukta police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Talan said that Atmaram Solanki, an Assistant Professor posted at the Government College in Mandleshwar, Khargone district, was caught following a complaint from Manoj Vaskel, a resident of Indore district.
The malfeasance allegedly occurred at a local eatery. Solanki had purportedly asked for Rs 4 lakh in total as a bribe, having earlier collected Rs 1 lakh, claiming he could ensure Vaskel's wife, Urmila, a position in Dhar.
The investigation continues, and an FIR has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act.
Solanki has not been apprehended yet, but further analysis into the case is being conducted.
