Baramulla, May 12: The Principal District and Sessions Court, Baramulla granted bail to a Teacher who was recently arrested in connection with a sexual harassment case registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused was arrested in connection with FIR No. 90/2026, registered under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 9 and 10 of the POCSO Act.
The Advocate of accused argued that the allegations levelled against their client were not substantiated by the material collected during the investigation.
The Defence Counsel submitted that the statements recorded during the investigation did not disclose any incriminating role on the part of the accused and contended that continued incarceration in the absence of substantive evidence was not justified.
After hearing arguments from both prosecution and defence and examining the material placed on record, the court granted bail to the accused.
