SRINAGAR , May 09: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today, in the presence of MLAs, laid the foundation of key sports infrastructure projects worth over ₹20 crore in Anantnag district.
The projects include a modern Khel Gaon & residential sports facility, stadium development, expansion of sports infrastructure, athletic tracks, synthetic courts and reconstruction of sports complexes.
Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Shahid Iqbal said “This is just the beginning. Over the next two months, major sports projects will take root across Jammu & Kashmir, from Kishtwar to Kupwara, Kathua to Gurez! From football grounds in Kashmir to wrestling akharas and athletics tracks in Jammu, cricket fields and modern sporting facilities all over, J&K’s sporting culture will emerge strong and vibrant.
Our commitment is to ensure that quality sports infrastructure reaches every district and every talented young sportsperson gets an opportunity to grow. The future of J&K will rise not only through development of roads and buildings, but also through playgrounds, stadiums and empowered youth.
