Srinagar, 4 May 2026: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather was accorded a grand welcome by the Secretary Assembly, senior officers, and officials upon his arrival in Srinagar following the Darbar Move. During his visit, the Speaker interacted with officers and staff across various wings of the Assembly Secretariat, appreciating their role in ensuring a smooth transition of offices from Jammu to Srinagar.
He held a detailed review meeting to assess the preparedness of departments and the functioning of administrative units. The Speaker inquired specifically about accommodation facilities for employees who have shifted to Srinagar, directing the concerned authorities to ensure adequate housing, transport, and basic amenities for all staff members. He emphasized that employee welfare remains a priority during the Darbar Move period.
Mr. Rather also visited different branches and sections of the Assembly Secretariat to take first-hand stock of arrangements. He inspected record rooms, IT sections, and administrative units, and was briefed about digitization efforts and file management systems. Highlighting the importance of efficiency, he urged officers to maintain timely disposal of official work and ensure that public service delivery does not suffer during the transition phase. He further called for better coordination among departments to strengthen governance.
Reiterating the significance of the Darbar Move, the Speaker stated that the practice continues to play a vital role in maintaining administrative balance and regional connectivity across Jammu and Kashmir. The visit concluded with the Speaker expressing satisfaction over the arrangements while advising officials to remain proactive in addressing any emerging issues during the ongoing shift.
