JAMMU, Apr 20: Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly, Sunil Sharma said that in a significant development following the recent Chashoti floods, the PMGSY road from Atholi (Padder) to Shri Machail Mata Shrine will now be taken over by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for upgradation and maintenance. The decision comes after a high-level review meeting
chaired by Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh ji, where the demand was strongly projected, highlighting the road’s strategic and public importance, said Sunil Sharma.
As per official orders issued on April 17, 2026, the road will be transferred to BRO, which will now undertake its maintenance, strengthening, and future upgradation.
Sharma said “I express my sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Defence Minister for addressing this long-standing demand. This decision will greatly improve connectivity, safety, and accessibility for local residents and pilgrims visiting Machail Mata.”
