District Administration, Religious Leaders and other Stakeholders join hands for Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, 16-04-2026: A significant meeting under the ongoing *Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan* was convened today by the District Administration Kishtwar, bringing together religious heads of all communities, representatives of civil society, and various NGOs to strengthen the implementation of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Campaign across the district.

The meeting was held under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), and was chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pawan Kotwal.

At the outset, the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Kishtwar, Sh. Tariq Parveaz Qazi (JKAS), presented a comprehensive overview of the activities being undertaken by various departments in accordance with the schedule notified by the District Administration.

The meeting witnessed active participation from prominent religious and community leaders, including the Sanatan Dharma Sabha Kishtwar, led by its President Mahant Shri Ram Saran Dass Ji Maharaj; the Majlis-e-Shoura Committee, represented by its President and Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Jenab Farooq Ahmed Kitchloo Sahib; and the Gurudwara Prabandhan Committee, represented by its General Secretary, Sh. Charanjeet Singh, along with members of civil society and NGOs.

During the interaction, participants put forward several valuable suggestions to curb drug abuse, including the need for parental and student counselling, village-level awareness announcements, establishment of an advanced rehabilitation centre in the district, strict enforcement against drug peddlers and suppliers, and greater parental responsibility in monitoring children.

All the religious heads and other stakeholders also assured their full cooperation and extended every possible support to the District Administration in its efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the district.

On behalf of the District Administration, the ADC urged all stakeholders to extend full cooperation in eradicating the drug menace and assured comprehensive administrative support for the initiative.

It was also informed that volunteers are being identified at the MC ward/Panchayat level to actively support anti-drug efforts.

In line with the directions of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, UT of J&K, the ADC instructed the concerned departments to constitute *Mahila Nigrani Samitis* at mohalla and ward levels, involving Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for community monitoring.

The ADC also emphasized that drug peddlers must be identified and their lists publicized at police stations to ensure accountability and deterrence.

The meeting concluded with a strong collective resolve to make Kishtwar a drug-free district through coordinated action and sustained community participation.

The meeting was attended by ACR Kishtwar Sh. Idrees Lone (JKAS), ACD Kishtwar Sh. Manoj Kumar (JKAS), CEO Municipal Council Kishtwar Sh. Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal (JKAS), Tehsildar Headquarters Sh. Mohd. Rafie Naik (JKAS), DIO Kishtwar Sh. Abhimanyu Singh (JKAS), ARTO Kishtwar Sh. Tasleem Wani (JKAS), CDPO Inderwal Dr. Kuldeep Kumar (JKAS), DPM JKRLM, and representatives from other concerned departments and GDCs.
