Waheed Para raises 32% Unemployment in J&K Assembly

Jammu, March 31: Peoples Democratic Party legislator Waheed Para on Tuesday raised concerns over rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, urging the government to initiate a time-bound recruitment process to fill vacant posts.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Para said the Union Territory is facing one of the highest unemployment rates, which he put at around 32 percent, and stressed the need for urgent policy intervention. The issue assumes significance as unemployment remains a major concern among youth in the region, with delays in recruitment and allegations of irregularities adding to public frustration.

“With a 32 percent unemployment rate in J&K and more than 30,000 vacant posts, there is an urgent need for time-bound recruitment,” Para said.
