JAMMU, Mar 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Housing is likely to invite Expressions of Interest (EoI) from interested private sector entities to develop two major housing projects in the Jammu and Samba districts under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
These projects, spanning a combined 114 Kanals of JKHB land, mark a significant initiative by the Housing and Urban Development Department to address the Union Territory’s rising demand for planned and organized residential spaces.
Tthe first project is proposed at Chowadhi area of Jammu district, where 69 Kanals (3.49 acres) of land within the urban influence zone have been identified for residential development. This site is expected to feature a modern mix of residential towers, flats and villas, designed to cater to the increasing demand for quality housing along the city’s expanding outskirts.
The second project is being planned in the Birpur area and will cover 45 Kanals (2.27 acres) & both projects are likely to be guided by the Jammu and Kashmir Unified Building Bye-Laws 2021 and the 2020 Housing and Township Policy, ensuring adherence to modern safety norms and scientific urban planning standards but it is a question & H&UDD Bosses that till today they are sleeping on to notify revised Jammu Master Plan of 2032, which was previously notified in March, 2017?
It is also to mention here that Jammu Development Authority is also having around 60 Kanal of land at Bipur, & seems that they have kept it open without fencing for encroachment for encroachers, otherwise even did not bothered to fence it, raised a pointer towards working of JDA as a whole?
It is also a matter of concern that even Revenue Officers of JDA did not know that where are their lans, which has not been fenced & are open, as Tehsildar had replied in a RTI application, which is in possession of CTN & despite that DLM has never bothered to seek report on such lands from concerned Revenue Officers, no doubts a serious question to be acted upon to save JDA lands in near future.
