Jammu, Feb 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested a Head Constable posted at Gharota Police Station on Friday for allegedly accepting a bribe, officials said.
He was caught in a trap laid by the agency following a complaint that he had demanded money from an individual in connection with a case.
It said a counter FIR had been registered concerning a dispute in which HC was the Investigating Officer. He allegedly sought a bribe to remove a person’s name from the case.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI apprehended him while accepting the bribe.
A formal case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Following the arrest, SSP Jammu ordered the immediate transfer of SHO Gharota, Inspector Sandeep Katoch, and posted Inspector Rajesh Verma as the new Station House Officer.
