J&K Tableau secures 2nd Prize at Republic Day Parade 2026

New Delhi, Jan 30:The Principal Secretary to the Government, Department of Culture, today received the Second Prize from Ministry of Defence ,GoI on behalf of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir for the Republic Day Parade Tableaux 2026, held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, under the Judges’ Choice category.

The award-winning tableau was themed on the _" Handicraft and Folk Dances of Jammu & Kashmir"_ and offered a visually compelling portrayal of the region’s artistic traditions and craftsmanship. Key elements included the iconic Samovar, skilled local artisans , the Lavender blooms, Traditional folk dancesincluding famous Dogra dance Kud &Kashmiri Rouf,Basohli paintings enhancing the aesthtics of houseboat on Dal Lake,thereby symbolising the vibrant and living cultural legacy of Jammu & Kashmir.

The presentation received wide appreciation for its aesthetic excellence, cultural authenticity, and creative narration. The achievement assumes added significance as Jammu & Kashmir has received recognition in the tableau category after more than a decade, marking a notable milestone in its cultural representation at the National level.

Earlier also, on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Ekta Nagar,Gujrat,the department of Culture presented a tableaux in the Ekta Parade, depicting the developmental and integrative journey of J&K . The tableaux prominently showcased the iconic World's highest Railway arch Chenab Rail Bridge, the revered Shankaracharya Temple, and the snow-laden Himalayan peaks, harvesting/plucking of saffron flowers,symbolising engineering excellence, spiritual heritage, natural grandeur, and the forward-looking progress of Jammu & Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Secretary congratulated the artists and designers for their dedicated efforts and lauded the J&K Academy of Art,Culture and Languages for its second consecutive sucess on presenting the mesmerizing Tableau at National level .He further expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its continued support and reiterated the commitment of the department to promote the cultural heritage and historic legacy of Jammu & Kashmir on national platforms.
