Srinagar, Jan 5: National Conference spokesperson Tanveer Sadiq today said there is only a proposal to increase passenger fares in Jammu and Kashmir, and no government order has been issued so far, warning transporters against implementing any hike on their own.
Speaking to reporters here, he said, “Look, there is a proposal to increase fares, but it is just a proposal. The government has not examined it fully yet.”
Tanvir said transporters have raised demands, but the government must balance those concerns with the interests of common people. Keeping transporters in mind and also the common people, a via media will have to be found. But as of today, there is no such order.
He made it clear that fares remain unchanged. There is no hike. It is the same as it was before. If anyone has increased fares, they are doing it wrong. They should wait for the government order,” Sadiq said.
