JAMMU, Jan 1: The Centre has released the first installment of Rs 944 crore for reconstruction and rehabilitation works in flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The amount has been released against a total sanctioned package of Rs 1,430 crore, approved for rebuilding infrastructure damaged due to floods and cloudburst incidents, including the devastating Kishtwar cloudburst.
It said that the sanction for the reconstruction package has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, following assessments of damage in vulnerable and flood-prone areas, particularly in the Jammu region.
