MD NHM reviews progress of NQAS certification in Jammu division: Issues directions

JAMMU, Dec 31: A virtual review meeting was convened today under the Chairmanship of Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Jammu & Kashmir, to assess progress and expedite the implementation of National Quality Assurance Standards certification across public health facilities in Jammu division.

During the interaction with district health teams, the Mission Director emphasized the importance of bringing the maximum number of public health institutions under the ambit of National Quality Assurance Certification.

He underscored that NQAS certification is a key initiative to ensure assured, standardized and patient-centric quality healthcare services for the citizens of J&K. He further highlighted that NQAS provides a structured and comprehensive framework for strengthening service delivery, safeguarding patient rights, improving clinical care, enhancing infection control practices and institutionalizing quality management systems in public health facilities.

The meeting was informed that District Hospitals, Primary Health Centres  and Sub-Centres/Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are being prioritized for NQAS implementation in a phased manner.

These facilities are undergoing systematic gap assessments, followed by corrective actions and preparedness measures to enable them to qualify for external assessments and achieve national-level quality certification at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by Dr Hamid Zargar, Director Health Services Jammu; Dr Harjeet Rai, State Nodal Officer, NHM; Chief Medical Officers of all districts of Jammu division; Block Medical Officers; and officials from the District Programme Management Units and Block Programme Management Units .

The participants shared the facility-wise status of NQAS preparedness and reaffirmed their commitment to completing the requisite quality improvement activities within stipulated timelines.

The MD called for close coordination, regular monitoring and focused efforts at all levels to ensure timely achievement of NQAS certification, thereby strengthening public confidence in Government health institutions and improving overall healthcare outcomes in the region.
