DC Kathua directs departments for focused follow-up

KATHUA, DECEMBER 17: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma today chaired a public grievance redressal camp at Mandli in Billawar sub-division where he listened to the grievances of locals and ex-PRI representatives from surrounding panchayats.

Former PRI representatives and locals from Mandli, Kohag, Durang and Lower Dungara projected issues pertaining to drinking water supply under JJM, road connectivity, rain-related damages, school infrastructure gaps, irrigation needs, monkey menace, ration card bifurcation and completion of Sub-Divisional Hospital Billawar building.

While interacting with the public, the DC assured that the pending works under JJM will be taken up for early execution once funding concerns are resolved at the contractor level.

On road connectivity issues, he informed that a majority of allotments under PMGSY and PWD stand issued and execution is underway, while the remaining works will be proposed in the next phase.

Responding to concerns over damages due to recent rains, the DC informed that restoration measures are already in progress and permanent proposals have been submitted to higher authorities.

He directed the revenue staff to ensure timely verification so that genuine relief cases are catered to. Regarding school-related issues, the DC instructed the Education Department to examine demands pertaining to infrastructure and the staff position and submit a field-based report for further action.

On the Sub-Divisional Hospital Billawar building, the DC shared that the project is in its final stage and targeted for completion and commissioning by end of March.

The DC also highlighted the benefits of Mission Yuva and Labour Card initiatives, urging youth and workers to avail opportunities under the schemes. He also assured support to organise special facilitation camps wherever required.

DDC Nagrota Gujroo Narayan Dutt Tripathi, DDC Mandli Neeru Rajput, PO ICDS Kathua, Mohd Sayed Khan, ADC Billawar Vinay Khosla, CPO Kathua Ranjeet Thakur besides other district and sectoral officers were present during the camp.

Later, the DC visited Varun Dev Shrine near Ludera Ujh Bridge and reviewed arrangements for the annual Bhandara, besides paying obeisance at the holy site.
