SRINAGAR, Dec 09: The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir has submitted a chargesheet in FIR No. 18/2025 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Srinagar, against four individuals implicated in a land fraud case u/s Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 201, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.
The chargesheet names Shabir Ahmad Ganie, Bashir Ahmad Ganie, Javeed Ahmad Hakak (then Pathwari), and a deceased Pathwari, accusing them of preparing and using forged land documents to defraud innocent buyers.
The case arose from a joint complaint by multiple victims who had purchased eight kanals of land through brokers & of the total, four kanals were allegedly transferred in the name of one complainant under Khasra No. 92, two kanals under Khasra No. 99 for another complainant, and the remaining two kanals in the name of a third complainant’s father.
Despite the claimed transfers, no valid documents were provided, and subsequent verification revealed that the mutation numbers given by the brokers were fabricated.
Investigations at Police Station EOW Srinagar indicated that the accused, acting in criminal conspiracy, had prepared fake land documents and misled the complainants into believing the transactions were genuine, extracting Rs 25 lakh in the process and causing substantial financial loss.
The probe found prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy. The chargesheet has now been filed for judicial scrutiny.
