JAMMU, Nov 24: All Sikh Minority Employees Association and All Employees Joint Association J&K Chairperson Jagmeet Kaur Bali held an important and wide-ranging meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Bank Chairman Amitava Chatterjee to discuss several urgent challenges faced by minority employees.
The discussion covered workplace concerns, representation, and the need for stronger institutional support, reflecting the deep expectations that minority communities have from one of the region’s leading financial institutions.
A major outcome of the meeting was the Chairman’s agreement to provide proper representation for minority employees in the grievance cell, which handles complaints related to harassment, including sexual harassment and other forms of workplace misconduct.
Until now, minority employees had very limited involvement in this cell, which often prevented them from presenting their concerns effectively or seeking help without hesitation. With this commitment, the bank aims to ensure a safer, more inclusive, and transparent environment for all its employees, especially those who have long felt overlooked.
During the discussion, Jagmeet Kaur Bali strongly urged the Chairman to revive the long-pending recruitment process, which has remained inactive for nearly five years. She highlighted that JK Bank is one of the biggest employment generators in Jammu and Kashmir and plays a crucial role in shaping the aspirations of young job seekers across all communities. Restarting recruitment would not only offer new opportunities to thousands of educated youth but would also help minority candidates who have been waiting for a fair chance to participate in the workforce. She emphasised that the bank must adopt an approach that ensures equal access and creates a level playing field for every eligible aspirant. Both sides also agreed on the need to make banking services, loans, and financial assistance more accessible and affordable for minority communities. Strengthening this support would help these groups start small businesses, pursue education, and meet personal financial needs with greater ease and confidence.
It was resolved that communication and coordination between minority representatives and JK Bank will be increased so that issues can be addressed promptly, services can be improved, and the connection between communities and the bank becomes stronger and more meaningful.
