J&K Govt declares November 11  as a paid holiday

Jammu, Nov 10: The Jammu and Kashmir government has declared November 11, 2025, as a paid holiday in view of the bye-elections to Assembly Constituencies 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota, allowing all eligible voters employed in these areas to cast their votes.


                   "The day will be treated as a paid holiday for all persons employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking, or other establishments within the two constituencies. Employers have been directed not to make any deduction or abatement of wages on account of the holiday"

The order further warns that any employer violating these provisions will face a fine of up to five hundred rupees.

However, the rule will not apply to employees whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss to the establishment they are engaged in.

Additionally, the government clarified that the holiday will also be recognized under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, ensuring closure of government and private offices located within the notified constituencies on the polling day.(KNT)
