CAT seeks Personal Appearance of Registrar Jammu University for misleading statements

Jammu, Nov 06: In T.A./122/2025 in WPC-2275/23 titled SEEMA NARGOTRA Vs UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU  after hearing CAT ordered as under:-

The present matter pertains to the year 2023 and, vide order dated 04.09.2024, was transferred from the Hon’ble High Court to this Tribunal.

On 20.03.2025, as no reply had been filed, the Registrar, University of Jammu, was directed to file the reply failing which he would remain present before this Court on the next date of hearing, i.e., 15.05.2025.

On 15.05.2025, the reply was still not filed, and the respondents were granted one more opportunity.

The matter was again listed on 22.07.2025, on which date the learned counsel for the respondents, Mr. M. A. Shad, submitted that the reply would be filed during the course of the day and was directed to supply a copy thereof to the opposite counsel after filing.

However, when the case came up for consideration on 21.08.2025, no reply had been filed.

It is further noted that the Registrar, University of Jammu, has not been appearing before this Court and continues to make misleading statements through counsel.

We are, therefore, constrained to take coercive measures.

Accordingly, the Registrar, University of Jammu, is directed to file the reply within two days, failing which he shall remain personally present before this Court, and his salary shall be stopped with immediate effect.

List the matter on 08.11.2025 for further consideration.
