Kishtwar, October 29, 2025: A high-level team comprising officers from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) visited Kishtwar for two days to assess the feasibility of developing an airport in the district.
During the visit, the team conducted a thorough inspection of the proposed site and held detailed discussions with local authorities to evaluate the potential for airport development in the region.
The officials also carried out a comprehensive survey of the area, taking precise measurements and assessing various technical aspects to determine the feasibility of the project.
The team is expected to submit a detailed report to higher authorities, outlining their findings and recommendations. Based on this report, a roadmap for further development will be charted out.
It is pertinent to mention here that this initiative is part of the Central Government’s efforts to enhance regional connectivity and provide affordable air travel options to residents of far-flung areas.
The development of an airport in Kishtwar is expected to boost the local economy, improve connectivity, and give a significant impetus to tourism in the region.
The team also paid a visit to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and held discussions with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS).
The local administration, under his leadership, has welcomed this initiative and expressed its gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India for considering Kishtwar for airport development
