Srinagar, Oct 3: The Crime Branch Kashmir (Economic Offences Wing) has booked five persons for allegedly forging and circulating a fake order in the name of the National Health Mission (NHM) JK, duping volunteers by promising them permanent jobs.
The case was registered following a complaint from the State Nodal Officer, NHM J&K, who reported the circulation of a forged document titled Provisional Selection List of Candidates for Different Posts (Kashmir Division) against Notification No. SHS/NHM/J&K/HR/10259 dated 10.05.2021.
The fake order, purportedly signed by the Mission Director, NHM JK, went viral on social media, creating confusion among aspirants.
A preliminary inquiry at the Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir, revealed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, an NGO named JK Health Care Services had been authorised by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, in March 2021 to provide voluntary manpower to overcome staff shortages.
However, investigators said the NGO’s management members misused this approval and, under a well-planned conspiracy deceived volunteers by collecting their documents and money on the pretext of securing permanent appointments under NHM.
The accused allegedly forged Mission Director’s signatures to prepare a fake selection list. Officials said the acts of the accused disclose offences punishable under sections 420, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code, read with Section 66-D of the IT Act.
The Economic Offences Wing has taken cognizance of the matter and formally registered a case, with further investigation underway.
