New Delhi, Sep 12: The Delhi Police have arrested 10 people, including a Doctor, for trafficking newborns as the suspects used to sell infants to childless couples for sums ranging from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh using forged adoption papers.
Six infants, all under one, were also rescued in the operation.
Dr. Kamlesh Kumar, 33, who owns K.K. Hospital in Agra, took money to deliver children at advanced stages where termination was not possible and sold the infants.
The Police identified Sundar, 35, as the main accused who acted as a middleman between the biological parents and the prospective buyers. Other accused include sisters Krishna, 28, a final-year student of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, and Preeti, 30, who has completed the BAMS programme.
Further investigation in the case is under way
