Coimbatore: Anti-Corruption books a Sub-Registrar, his wife & his personal driver for possessing disproportionate assets worth 1.57 crore

Coimbatore, Sep 05: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption booked a sub-registrar, his wife, and his personal driver for possessing disproportionate assets worth 1.57 crore.

The accused have been identified as A Ramamoorthy, the deputation Sub-Registrar of the Mettupalayam sub-registrar office, his wife R. Bhuvaneshwari, and his personal driver M Dinesh. Ramamoorthy had been accepting bribes from people visiting the sub-registrar office for various purposes from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2019, DVAC said.

DVAC sleuths searched his residence at Velandipalayam and recovered documents of assets he had acquired illegally in his name and in the names of his family members.

Dinesh assisted Ramamoorthy in accepting bribes from applicants by transferring the amount to his bank account.

DVAC booked Ramamoorthy under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Dinesh and Bhuvaneshwari were booked under sections 12 r/w 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
