Srinagar, Aug 29: Secretary Transport, Avny Lavasa conducted surprise inspection of SMG Bemina & reviewed workshop & fleet management.
She stressed new Car Policy, automation, upgraded inventory & innovative practices for efficient, transparent service delivery.
During the visit, the Secretary reviewed the functioning of the PMD Workshop, Bemina, which provides critical maintenance support to district and city bus operations.
She inspected the JKRTC workshop facilities and laid emphasis on minimizing bus detention so that a greater number of vehicles can be made available on the roads to serve the public efficiently.
While interacting with the staff, Secretary Avny Lavasa directed officials to carry out the auction of unserviceable spares and approved condemned vehicles at the earliest, ensuring optimal utilization of corporation resources.
The Secretary further underlined the importance of strengthening public transport connectivity within the city as well as across districts, directing the officials to ensure that dependable bus services reach every nook and corner of the Valley to meet the needs of the general commuters.
