Jammu, Aug 23: Director Tourism Vikas Gupta, today chaired a meeting to discuss and finalize the Action Plan for winter-sport infrastructure & meeting deliberated extensively on strengthening winter-sport infrastructure across potential destinations of Jammu Division.
Vikas Gupta emphasized that Jammu holds vast potential for the promotion of winter sports and the Directorate is committed to developing the division as a premier hub of winter-sport tourism in North India.
It was highlighted that destinations such as Patnitop, Padri, Jai Valley, Gul Danda, Sarthal, Bani and Sanasar etc. possess immense potential for skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, and other snow-based recreational activities.
Focused infrastructure development, training facilities and improved accessibility at these destinations will not only enhance tourist experiences but also position Jammu prominently on the country’s winter-sport map.
The Action Plan 2025-26 aims at attracting both domestic and international tourists by extending the tourist season, creating avenues for adventure enthusiasts, generating livelihood opportunities and ensuring sustainable growth of the sector.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer, Bhaderwah Development Authority; Chief Executive Officer, Bani-Basohli Development Authority; CEO Billawar-Duggan Development Authority; Deputy Director Tourism (Adm.), Jammu, Deputy Director Planning Jammu; Executive Engineer, Bhaderwah; Assistant Director Tourism, NHW Batote; Accounts Officer, Directorate of Tourism Jammu; Tourist Officer, Samba-Kathua/ Udhampur. Stakeholders/ registered ATOs from Bhaderwah also participated virtually and shared valuable inputs on strengthening winter-sport infrastructure, emphasizing improved facilities, training support, and promotion of tourist destinations.
