IGP Jammu reviews crime, security

JAMMU, Aug 1: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, today chaired a Zonal Crime Review Meeting at the Zonal Police Headquarters, Jammu, to assess crime trends, operational preparedness, and law enforcement performance across all districts of the Jammu Zone.  DIGs and SSPs from various ranges attended the meeting in person and via video conferencing.

Officers presented detailed reports on crime data, action taken on previous directions, and status of pending cases.

A key focus was on unresolved murder cases and inquests pending since December 2024, with directions issued for speedy investigations and improved inter-agency coordination.

The IGP also reviewed progress in UAPA and NDPS cases, stressing on tracing linkages, seizing assets, and following the Home Department’s checklist.

The implementation of new criminal laws was discussed, including the use of e-FIRs, Zero FIRs, community service punishments, and integration with national crime databases.

Officers were told to adhere strictly to investigation deadlines and emphasize forensic support in serious cases. CCTV functionality at police stations, human rights compliance, and maintenance of data retention protocols were also reviewed.

The meeting ended with a detailed discussion on Independence Day preparations, with IGP instructing all districts to stay on high alert and ensure foolproof security arrangements.J
