BUDGAM, July 15: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, who is also the Chairman of the District Health Society Budgam conducted an extensive review of the health sector performance in the district today.
CMO Budgam, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad presented the significant strides made in healthcare service delivery, infrastructure development, national health program implementation, and quality improvement initiatives.
The key achievements and initiatives included Tuberculosis elimination efforts in district Budgam, which has made substantial progress under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), with targeted reductions in TB incidence and mortality rates.
Dr Bilal stressed the need to ensure universal health coverage, especially for marginalized and remote populations, strengthen real-time disease surveillance systems to enhance emergency preparedness, and promote community-based health education focusing on nutrition, hygiene, maternal care, and lifestyle diseases.
DC directed to accelerate construction and operationalization of upcoming health infrastructure like the District Hospital and Critical Care Block. He directed for leveraging technology and telemedicine to reduce referral load and improve specialist consultations at the block level.
DC said, “Healthcare must reach the last mile, and it must be accessible, accountable, and affordable for all. Budgam has set the bar high—our focus must now be on sustaining momentum and scaling innovations.”
He directed all health officials to ensure prompt service delivery, data-driven decision making, and transparent grievance redressal, reinforcing that public trust in the health system is vital for long-term success.
