HDEP Pipe Scam the biggest scam in J&K: Tony

Jammu, July 8: Senior Congress leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, today lashed out at the government over its failure to release payments to contractors under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), claiming that many contractors across Jammu and Kashmir are on the verge of bankruptcy due to non-payment of dues for the last nine months.

The senior Congress leader stated this while interacting with people during his visit to Suchetgarh wherein the pending payments of contractors came to light. “Even A-Class contractors are being forced into insolvency.

Tube wells have been dug, Overhead Tanks have been constructed, and nearly 90 percent of the work has been completed. Yet, not a single rupee has been released.

Contractors who borrowed money to complete the works are now trapped in a vicious cycle of loan repayments and interest burdens. They’re working only to pay the banks.
Tony, emphasized that according to the official contract terms, the govt is obliged to release payments within one month of the work completion. This clause is being violated.

He further exposed the deep rooted issue plaguing JJM BY bringing attention to what he termed as the biggest scam in J&K --HDPE Pipes Scam.

He while taking a sharp dig at the center's flagship scheme " HAR GHAR NAL HAR GHAR JAL"  Mission has turned into a total failure in j&K.

He appealed to the LGs administration to immediately release pending payments of contractors and initiate a transparent enquiry into the HDPE Pipes Scam.
