CAT asks CDPO to explain why this Court should not initiate contempt proceedings against him

Jammu, uly 2: In C.P./84/2025 (JAMMU) [ SENIOR CITIZEN ] In O.A./1480/2023  titled SHAFIQA BEGUM Vs SANJEEV VERMA AND ORS  after hearing CAT ordered as under:-

This Court, having considered the matter, hereby grants the respondents a final opportunity of four weeks to comply with the order passed earlier in this case.

The respondents are directed to make full compliance within this period, failing which the Director, Consumer Affairs Public Distribution Department is ordered to appear in person before this Court at the next hearing and to provide an explanation as to why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for his failure to adhere to the Court’s directions.

The Court has taken serious note of the delay and will not tolerate any further non-compliance.

In addition, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Doda, who has filed a statement of facts and a compliance report in this matter, is directed to explain why he has taken such a step when he is not a party to the case.

The Court raises concern regarding the authority under which the CDPO has submitted such documents and seeks clarification from him on this issue.

The CDPO is further directed to explain why this Court should not initiate contempt proceedings against him for actions that may be beyond his jurisdiction and authority.

This matter is now listed for hearing on 29.07.2025
