IGP Jammu emphasizes importance of close coordination with Army & CRPF to enhance operational effectiveness

JAMMU, June 24: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, today chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ), Jammu.

The meeting was convened to assess counter-terrorism efforts, discuss capacity building initiatives and chart a strategic direction for strengthening law enforcement operations in the Zone.

The meeting witnessed participation from senior police officials, including all Range Deputy Inspectors General, District Senior Superintendents of Police, SO to IGP Jammu, SSP Special Operations and Training, all Superintendents of Police (Operations), and Deputy Superintendents of Police (Operations) of Jammu Zone.

Participation was both in person and via virtual mode, ensuring representation from all key operational wings. A comprehensive district-wise review of the law and order situation was carried out, with a focus on the operational performance of each district.

The IGP issued clear directives to officers to maintain a high level of alertness and responsiveness in view of the constantly evolving security landscape. Emphasis was laid on adopting a proactive approach to emerging threats and challenges within respective jurisdictions.

The session also included an in-depth review of counter-terrorism operations across the Zone, covering recent encounters, recoveries, and intelligence-driven actions.

The IGP reiterated the need for an aggressive and sustained offensive against terror elements and emphasized the importance of close coordination with the Indian Army and central armed police forces to enhance operational effectiveness.

A strong focus was placed on the training and upskilling of personnel. The IGP stressed the need for regular field training sessions and the development of survival skills, particularly for Special Operations Group (SOG) units and operational teams.

He urged the institutionalisation of best practices and the integration of lessons learned into training modules to ensure constant improvement in tactical readiness.

In a significant move to drive performance, quarterly operational targets were assigned to all DySsP (Operations), aimed at promoting accountability, mission orientation, and tangible outcomes.

Officers were instructed to monitor progress closely and conduct timely reviews to ensure goals are met within stipulated timelines.
