PD SAMAGRA J&K Bhawani Rakwal conducts extensive tour of Gurez & Tulail Valley

Bandipora, June 16: In a significant step toward strengthening educational infrastructure and addressing local challenges, the Project Director (SPD) of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir Bhawani Rakwal, undertook an extensive multi-day tour of the remote Gurez Valley in District Bandipora.

He was accompanied by Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, Coordinator, SAMAGRA Shiksha,J&K and other officers/officials of the School education Department.

The Project Director was warmly welcomed at Bandipora by the Office of the Chief Education Officer and the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Quilmuqam.

During the visit, Rakwal engaged in a series of high-level interactions with public representatives, educational forums, and key stakeholders of the Education Department in Gurez valley.

Listening attentively to concerns raised by local stakeholders,  Rakwal was apprised of pressing issues, most notably the demand for solar panels for schools and the construction of teacher hostels in Purana Telail (PTL), Baduab, and Izmarg, where non-local teachers face considerable difficulty in finding accommodation.

Rakwal inaugurated Astrophysics Laboratory at HSS, Baduab Tulail for students to provide practical experience in applying theoretical concepts, developing experimental skills, and fostering a deeper understanding of the universe. 

Students learn to use telescopes and other instruments, analyze data, and interpret astronomical phenomena. This hands-on experience bridges the gap between theory and observation, preparing them for research and careers in related fields. 

 Rakwal Chaired multiple review meetings with officials from various departments and took stock of ongoing civil works under Samagra Shiksha.

A dedicated session was held to assess the progress of infrastructure projects, attended by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Executive Engineer R&B, Special Sub-Division (SDM) Gurez, AEE R&B, SSD Gurez, ZEO Gurez, and other stakeholders/public representatives.

Stressing the urgency of timely execution, the Project Director ensured that all ongoing projects will be completed expeditiously, keeping in mind the short working season in the region. On-the-spot instructions were issued to resolve several public grievances related to providing of quality education.

The Project Director also conducted a comprehensive review of Samagra Shiksha components in the district and interacted with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including public delegations, departmental officers, cluster heads, and heads of institutions.

The visit concluded on a positive and hopeful note, with assurances of continued focus on equitable and quality education across even the most remote areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
