RAJOURI, June 14: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today conducted a whirlwind tour of Tehsil Darhal, reviewing development works, inspecting public institutions, and interacting with local youth.
During the visit, the DC took a comprehensive review of the road connectivity from Rajouri to Darhal and directed the concerned departments to immediately take up repair works, including filling of potholes, to ensure safe and smooth travel for commuters.
As a part of his outreach to engage and empower the youth, the Deputy Commissioner held an interactive meeting with members of Youth Clubs from the area. He motivated them to take a proactive role in society and urged them to collaborate in the ongoing awareness campaigns under the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan to combat the menace of drug abuse in the region.
The issue of rising drug abuse in the area was a key focus during the visit.
The DC took a detailed review of the action taken by concerned departments in the aftermath of the tragic death of a youth due to drug overdose a few months ago. Expressing serious concern over the incident, he stressed the need for coordinated and sustained efforts to tackle the issue.
He directed for the active involvement of all youth of Darhal in the campaign to make Darhal a drug-free zone and emphasized community-based interventions, efficient enforcement and treatment for addiction.
In addition, the DC inspected various Government institutions, reviewed their functioning, and stressed on the importance of punctuality and regular attendance of staff to ensure efficient public service delivery.
The DC was accompanied by SDPO Darhal, Tehsildar Darhal, SHO Darhal, BDO Darhal, local public representatives during the visit.
All concerned officers were directed to resolve public grievances on the spot and expedite ongoing works in the region.
