UDHAMPUR, Nov 06: A special drive against the erring two wheelers for violation of traffic rules was launched jointly by Motor Vehicle Department and Traffic Police Udhampur here today.
The drive was held at five different locations viz Mianbagh, Venus Chowk, Salalthia Chowk, TCP Chowk and MH Chowk. The police tightened the noose around those drivers who don’t wear helmets. Furthermore, the triple riders and rash drivers are also being fined by the department.
On the spot, about 35 two wheelers have been compounded and fifteen challans have been issued by ARTO. Besides, a fine of Rs 5000 has been recovered from the defaulters or violating various provisions of Motor Vehicle Act.
Meanwhile, 5 two wheelers were also seized for violating MVA.Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Mr. Rajesh Gupta stressed upon the people to follow the traffic rules strictly for their own safety.Among others, Dy SP Traffic Tilak Raj Rana, staff of MVD and traffic police were present during the drive.
