Shimla, May 12: Almost a year after filing a detailed chargesheet in the Rs 181-crore Himachal Pradesh Scholarship Scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation registered six fresh FIRs against private individuals and unidentified government officials under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The FIRs were lodged at the CBI’s zonal headquarters in Shimla. Simultaneously, six CBI teams conducted raids at six locations, two in Himachal Pradesh, three in Punjab, and one in Chandigarh.
Several incriminating documents, including property-related records, were seized during the raids.
On March 28, 2024, the CBI had filed a detailed chargesheet in a special CBI court against 20 private educational institutions and 105 individuals, including institute owners, officials of the Directorate of Higher Education, bank personnel, and other private individuals.
