New Delhi, May 09: The Airports Authority of India has issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) announcing the temporary suspension of all civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India.
The closure will remain in effect from May 9 to May 14, 2025.
The affected airports include: Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai. advertisement “All civil flight activities at these airports will remain suspended during this period,” said the NOTAM.
The NOTAM comes in the wake of escalating tensions in the region. It follows India’s precision strike targeting reported terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which led to retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Pakistan targeting areas in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Although Indian defense systems successfully intercepted and neutralized the threats, aviation security has been significantly heightened.
