Jammu Police seizes 4 Oil Tankers with Flammable Material



JAMMU, Apr 29: In a critical enforcement action underscoring public safety risks, the Jammu Police South Zone, under the supervision of SDPO East and SP South Jammu, conducted a targeted raid at Yard No. 01 in Narwal on April 24, 2025.

The action targeted the illegal transfer of low-density flammable oil in a densely populated public area, exposing a hazardous operation that endangered community safety.

The action resulted in the seizure of four oil tankers (Registration Nos. PB03-BP-3377, JK02D-4813, JK02BU-2185, and JK02BT-0875) allegedly involved in the illegal possession and transfer of low-density flammable oil.

Acting on actionable intelligence, a joint team from PS Bahu Fort, PP Narwal, and EMIC Bahu executed the raid, discovering the unauthorized transfer of hazardous oil from one tanker to three others. It revealed the clandestine transfer of highly flammable material in a *public zone*, escalating risks of fire or explosion. Such reckless activity in an unsecured environment posed a direct threat to residents and nearby infrastructure.

Two individuals—*Kuldeep Singh (Son of Sukhdev Singh, Bathinda, Punjab)* and *Pawan Kumar (Son of Som Dutt, Ghagwal, Samba)*—were apprehended at the scene. An FIR (No. 135/2025) has been registered under *Sections 125 BNS and 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act*, with investigations ongoing to uncover further linkages. Senior police officers have taken stringent note of the incident, labeling it a *serious breach of public safety protocols*. The illegal handling of flammable materials in a public space reflects utter disregard for human lives. Senior officers are closely monitoring this investigation to ensure all perpetrators face stringent legal consequences *Notable Judicial Development* In a notable judicial decision, the Jammu Court has granted *anticipatory bail* to the *primary accused* in the case namely *Iqbal Singh (Age 49 years) S/o Inderjeet Singh R/o Chatha Mill, Tehsil and District Jammu*, a development that has drawn attention given the gravity of the charges. Authorities emphasize that the investigation remains active, with efforts focused on ensuring accountability for all parties involved. The Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to upholding public safety and combating illegal activities.

The seizure of flammable materials underscores the risks posed by such operations to community safety. While the judicial process is discouraging, Police’s resolve to pursue justice and dismantle illicit networks remains steadfast.

The case has highlighted the need for stringent oversight of hazardous materials. The Jammu Police assure the public that all legal avenues will be explored to address the matter comprehensively.
