Veeri visits Sports Stadium after CM's direction; Secretary SSC thanks Minister for encouraging sportsperson

SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri today visited different areas of Srinagar to know the real time status of custodian properties.

The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Revenue Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Custodian General J&K Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, District Development Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Lone and others officers of the Revenue and Custodian department.

The Minister paid a visit to the stadium at Brein Nishat which was dedicated by CM Mehbooba Mufti to the local youth for various sports activities.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of a match being played under aegis of State Sports Council, the Minister said that Sports play an important role in the development of youth. He said that gone are the days when sharp minds at education were seen as role models. Giving examples of local players like Parvez Rasool, the Minister said that Kashmir youth are full of talent and can prove mettle in any field.

Secretary Sports Council Waheed-ur- Rehman Para thanked the Minister for encouraging the budding sportspersons of the valley.

The Minister visited the custodian property of 21 kanals at a picturesque place overlooking Dal Lake in Ishber Nishat. The Minister directed for protection of the land and envisaging the plan for its optimal use.

The Minister also visited the Custodian property at the Gupkar, Indra Nagar, Zeewan, Hyderpora and impressed on the officers to demarcate and construct boundary wall around the prime land.

He also impressed on the officers to turn the department from asset keeper to asset maker.  The Minister issued strict instructions to the officials to get all encouraged properties in the state retrieved.

The Minister also visited community hall constructed by the department at Sanatnagar. He asked the department to give wide publicity of these facilities to enable maximum number of people to get benefit.

 Mr Veeri also said that the facility can be used by the people for marriage and other occasions and at the same time can earn revenue for the department.

Officers informed the Minister that these marriage halls have been provided with all the basic amenities required for conducting all type of social functions.
