PDP-BJP coalition will script new chapter in JK’s developmental scenario: Zulfkar

SRINAGAR, July 29: Terming the arrival of PDP-BJP coalition government in J&K as the beginning of a new era of development and prosperity in the State, Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Departments, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali has said the present government under the visionary leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will script a new chapter in the developmental history of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

“It has been our endeavor to ensure comprehensive and equitable development of all the regions and sub-regions of the state by setting new standards of good governance and providing transparent and time-bound services to people” the Minister maintained while interacting with various deputations at Leh.

Zulfkar said maintaining communal harmony and regional cooperation are the bedrock of the present government’s political philosophy. He said the success and progress of any state largely depends upon these tools.

“We have to stick together for achieving new frontiers of progress and development as envisioned by our chief minister,” Zulfkar added.

He said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has a special place in the hearts and minds of the people of Leh for his initiative of empowering Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh.

Zulfkar said as the then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had in 2002 accorded the status of cabinet minister to Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh while giving the powers of Deputy Minister to the Executive Councillors.

He said similarly a separate Hill Development Council was created for Kargil during that period.

The Minister said there are many challenges before the present government as it assumed charge in the backdrop of the massive devastation caused by the September 2014 floods and the subsequent systemic failure of the previous NC-Congress regime in responding to the tragic situation and reaching out to the affected people. He said the messy state of affairs was further aggravated by the financial and administrative mess left behind by the previous regime due to errant policies of its functionaries.

The Minister said that the PDP-BJP coalition government has already initiated the process of not only clearing the fiscal and administrative muck left behind by the previous regime, but has set-out with some pioneering administrative measures to deliver on its promise of providing accountable, clean and functional governance to the people.

He said people would soon feel the visible change on the ground as the government is slowly but steadily restoring the sanctity of institutions in the State.
