New Delhi, May 04: Reports said that the Supreme Court imposed an exemplary cost of Rs 25 lakh on a Rajasthan based trust for filing 64 petitions in 10 years in the name of public interest, and wasting judicial time.
A three-judge bench presided over by Chief Justice J S Khehar restrained Suraz India Trust and its chairman Rajiv Dahiya from filing any PILs in the future. Waste of judicial time is a serious issue, as matters of extreme importance that are taken up lag behind because of misconceived intention of people who are not competent to raise such issues.
It is a good step by the Apex court to teach a lesson, who unneccessarily waste the time of courts by filling undue petitions.
